Over the past 17 years, Getaway Trekking has established a reputation for leading culturally and ecologically sensitive treks in many destinations. Our vast experience in trekking, combined with our understanding of local culture has contributed to us becoming a leader in the trekking area.

Buna Treks and Tours is 100% PNG (Oro Kaiva) owned business set up more than five years ago, and is appropriately registered with legal entities in PNG to operate as a tour company, we are also a registered Kokoda Track Licensed operator providing trekking tours on the Kokoda Track.

When Vietnam Veteran Merv Hains first walked the Kokoda Track in September 2005, it was the beginning of the Kokoda Track Experience. Merv has since completed 20 trips over the Track and returns regularly to walk alongside trekkers young and old.

Charlie Lynn established Adventure Kokoda in 1991 and has led 65 expeditions across Kokoda since then. During this time he has established close relations with the Kioari and Orokaiva people who live in villages along the Track.

No Roads Expeditions offers guided Kokoda Track expeditions which can be booked for any week of the trekking year. We also have scheduled departures that anyone is welcome to join.

The Kokoda Track holds an extremely important place in Australia’s history. So join with other women adventurers to remember and respect the soldiers who went to war. From July 1942, the route over the Owen Stanley Range witnessed the battle hardened Japanese war machine, encounter young, unprepared, untrained, unproven and hopelessly outnumbered Australian soldiers.

Australian Kokoda Tours (AKT) was formed by Mick O'Malley after he decided to turn his passion for Australian war history, into a career telling the Kokoda Soldiers' stories to other Australians.

Traveling is our passion and we want to revisit those special places we call “ours” – and we want to find them in the same state (or better) as when we first visited them.
